frequently asked questions
How do I get from the airport in Panama City to Sansara Resort?
Transfer to and from the resort is included in the price of your retreat. In order to take advantage of this, you must travel to the resort on the morning of November 4th, day one of the retreat, (pick up is at approx 9am from Central Hotel), and head back to Panama City on the last day of the retreat, November 10 (leaving Sansara around 8:30am). The pick ups and drop offs in Panama City will take place at Central Hotel. The shuttle will only run to the hotel, not the airport, so if you are heading straight from, or to the airport, there will be an additional fee.
Getting from Central Hotel to the airport (and vice versa), isn't included in the cost of the retreat. We can refer you to a great company that offers this service, or you can contact the hotel for airport transfer.
If you want to arrive early or stay late at Sansara before or after the retreat dates, you will be responsible for your own transfers and booking this accommodation, but we are more than happy to help with any logistics.
To make it simple, here's what we recommend:
Book your flight from home to Panama City for Nov 3 - Nov 10 after 6pm, or Nov 11 anytime.
Book accommodation at Central Hotel for the night of Nov 3, and Nov 10 (if flying out on Nov 11). They have offered us a group rate of $135USD per night, per person, just mention that you are heading to a retreat at Sansara. This rate includes breakfast.
On Nov 4, the complimentary shuttle will pick us up from Central Hotel and drive us five hours to Sansara Resort.
On the last day of the retreat, Nov 10, the shuttle will pick us up as a group and take us back to Central Hotel. In order to ensure you make it back in time for your flight home, book your trip back no earlier than 6pm on Nov 10, or stay the night in Panama CIty and fly home on the 11th.
Ok, I am ready to book my flights, how should I plan my trip?
If you're departing flight is the same day as the retreat checkout (Nov 10), we recommend no earlier than a 6:00pm departure flight time to allow yourself enough time to get back to Panama City without sweating it. The complimentary shuttle will leave the resort at about 8:30am on the last day, November 10, and it's a five hour drive back to Panama City.
We highly recommend flying into Panama City one day before the retreat start date. This gives you a minute to breath, see Panama City, get a couple of shots for the 'gram and a good night's rest to show up ready to roll on the first day of the retreat.
So long story short, and ideal flight schedule would be arriving in Panama City on November 3, 2018 (anytime of day), and flying out of Panama City on Nov 10 after 6pm, or November 11 anytime, to give yourself more time and another night in Panama City.
I'm coming alone, is that ok?
It's the most okay. A few hours in, and you will have found your people. The sisterhood that we find on these retreats is next level. All of the rooms are shared occupancy, and we aim to pair the rooms as best as we can. You will have your own bed, but if you are a light sleeper, we suggest packing along some ear plugs and a eye mask.
Should I bring cash? What's not included?
Gratuity is not included, so bring some cash if you plan to tip the staff (which we hope you do). The retreat cost pays for all your meals, but snacks, booze, juices and smoothies are an additional cost. If you plan on adding on any excursions or treatments (like a sunset horseback riding sesh, or a ocean-side massage) these are not included in the price of the retreat, and you can pay credit card or cash for those. You can keep a tab with Sansara throughout the week for your extras, and pay it in one go at the end using a credit card.
Do I need to bring a mat?
Sansara Resort has everything you will need for a well-supported yoga practice. Blocks, bolsters, blocks, etc. No need to bring a mat, but if you have one that you love, there's no harm in sliding it on with your carry-on luggage.
What if I have to cancel after booking?
Please refer to our full cancellation policy for the nitty gritty.
Anything else I should know?
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance and trip cancellation insurance before the trip to cover your butt if anything comes up.
